Privacy Policy

Simply Serene mobile app (Android and iOS) · Effective date: 6 October 2026 · Developer and data controller: OMA Comp Orest Melnyk

Simply Serene is a breathing, meditation, journaling and mental-training app. An account is required, while your journal, goals and training progress stay on your own device. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored and what your choices are.

1. Summary

2. Information stored on your device

To make the app work, the following information is saved locally on your phone or tablet. Journal and training content stay on your device unless you back up or transfer your device yourself. Account details are also handled by our server as described below.

DataPurpose
Account e-mail, name and declared birth dateRemembering the signed-in account and comparing age ranges when you reopen the app. The password and phone number are not saved locally.
Nickname and school name you enter during setupPersonalised greeting and profile screen
Journal entries, time-capsule letters and locked goalsDisplayed back to you in the Journal section and on your profile
Daily goals and their completion statusGoals screen and statistics
Focus points, level, medals, day streak, app-launch days, exercises marked as favourites, The Corner session statisticsProgress tracking inside the app
Names you add to the people list in The CornerShown back to you in Corner Call
Settings (light/dark mode, sound, haptics, narrator voice, narrator and music volume)Remembering your preferences
Narrator voice recordings downloaded during sessionsCached so guided sessions can play them without downloading them again
Audio files you choose to import as "My music"Copied into the app's private storage so they can be played during sessions. Only files you explicitly pick with the system file picker are accessed.

Settings → Sign out removes the local account details, profile, journal, goals, progress and preferences. It does not delete your server account. Imported music files can be removed separately from Settings → Sound & haptics → My music; signing out does not remove those files or downloaded media caches. Uninstalling the app removes its remaining local files. Copies in device backups are managed through your backup provider. Signing out also removes your school verification; because a school code works only once, you will need a new code from your school to join it again.

Account and age information on our server

Registration sends your first and last name, e-mail, phone number, birth date and password to simplysereneapp.com/account/. The server stores a password hash, never the password itself. It also stores the account creation time and the most recent age-check result: platform, sharing status, age-range bounds, information source, applicable sharing requirement, storefront country if supplied, approval status and receipt time. For supervised Google Play installations, an installation identifier may be stored solely for required consent-revocation handling.

These registration fields are required to create an account in the current app. The phone number is stored as part of the account record; the app does not use it for SMS verification. Your account identifies you when signing in but does not synchronise your journal or training progress between devices.

Apple and Google provide an age range, not your exact birth date. The source may be a user declaration, a guardian declaration or stronger age assurance. A matching range does not establish the exact birth date or the identity of the person holding the device. We do not request identity documents, payment details or selfies. Age checks run during registration, sign-in and when an existing session is reopened or resumed.

At registration and sign-in, the app reports the age-check result to our account server. Checks on reopening or resuming an existing session compare the platform result with the locally remembered birth date. An age below 13, a mismatch, or a required verification or approval that has not been completed can prevent access. Where permitted, a declared birth date can be used when age sharing is declined or unavailable on an older device. A service error does not automatically permit that fallback. You can retry a check or contact support to correct your saved birth date.

For protection against repeated password guessing, the server also temporarily stores a hash of the attempted e-mail address, a failed-attempt count and the last-attempt time. These records expire after 15 minutes without another failed attempt and are removed during subsequent authentication activity; successful sign-in or account deletion removes the relevant record.

Account details and the most recent age-check record are retained while the account exists. Settings → Account → Delete account, after password confirmation, deletes the server account, its password hash and age-check record, and clears the local profile, journal, goals and progress. The age-check blocking screen also offers account deletion. Uninstalling or signing out does not delete the server account.

You can also request deletion without installing or opening the app: follow Delete your Simply Serene account or e-mail omacomp1@gmail.com from the address registered to your account. We may ask you to confirm ownership before acting on the request. Do not send us your password. School applications can be deleted on request too. Contact us to correct the saved birth date or exercise other rights.

3. Schools

Public access. During setup the school is set to Public by default. Public access requires no school code. Account registration and age checks still apply.

Joining a partner school. Some schools give their students a one-time verification code. If you choose such a school – during setup or later in Settings → School – the app sends only that code to simplysereneapp.com to check that it is valid. Your nickname, your journal, your goals, a device identifier or any other content of the app are not sent with it. Our server records only that the code has been used and when, so that it cannot be used a second time. The name of the verified school is then stored on your device and shown in Settings.

"Add your school" form. Anyone can ask us to add their school, from the setup screen or from Settings → School. This is entirely optional. When you send the form, the app transmits exactly what you typed into it – the school's name, city and website, your name, your role at the school, your e-mail address and your message – to simplysereneapp.com, where it is stored together with the time it was sent. Nothing else from the app is included. We use these details only to contact you about bringing Simply Serene to your school. We keep an application for as long as we are in touch with you about it and delete it whenever you ask us to (see Your rights below).

4. Internet access

Guided meditations, MMA Reset rounds and The Corner play background music, short videos and pre-recorded narrator voice lines that are downloaded from our media server at simplysereneapp.com. Our hosting provider receives standard connection information when the app contacts the website or server, such as your IP address, the requested resource and the time of the request. This information is used to deliver content and operate and secure the service. We do not use these logs for advertising or profiling.

Besides media downloads, the app contacts our server to operate accounts and check age information, refresh the school directory, check a school code or send an optional school application. Age sharing also communicates with Apple or Google through their system services.

5. Permissions and device features

The app does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or calendar. On iOS the file picker component requires the app to include usage texts for the camera, photo library and location; the app never requests those permissions.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, or disclose age signals to advertisers, data brokers or marketing services. Your journal, goals and training records are not uploaded to us. Our web hosting provider processes account records, age-check records, school applications and technical connection information to host and secure our service on our behalf. Access to these records is limited to the Simply Serene team and service providers who need it for those purposes.

Apple and Google process age sharing through their platform services under their own privacy policies: Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy. The app receives the range and related sharing or approval signals described above, rather than identity documents or the payment details used by the platform.

7. Children

Simply Serene is intended for students and athletes aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Registration is blocked when the declared birth date or a supplied system age range indicates an age below 13. Required verification and approval states are handled separately from a simple age declaration. If we learn that an account or school application belongs to a child below our minimum age, we will take steps to remove the relevant personal information. Contact us using the details below.

8. Health information

Simply Serene is a wellness and training app. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any medical condition and is not a substitute for professional care. Anything you write in the journal is private to you and stored only on your device.

9. Your rights

We hold the account and age-check information described above and any school application you chose to send us. You can request access, correction or deletion by writing to the contact address below. Where applicable law provides them, you can also request restriction of processing, object to processing or request a portable copy of your data. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, but will not ask you to e-mail your password or journal content.

You can contact support about an age-check decision or an incorrect birth date. Declining or changing platform age sharing does not itself delete your Simply Serene account; use the deletion options described above. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority, including the Polish Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). A used school code is not linked by us to any person.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app starts collecting additional types of data, we will update this policy, change the effective date above and describe the change in the app's release notes before the new version ships.
