To help us fix a problem faster, tell us your device, operating-system version, app version (on iPhone: Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Simply Serene; on Android: Settings → Apps → Simply Serene) and what you were doing when it happened. If you send a screenshot, hide any personal details first. Do not send your password or private journal entries.
Simply Serene requires an account with an e-mail address and password. Choose Create account during setup and enter your first and last name, phone number and date of birth, or sign in to an existing account. The minimum age is 13. You also pick a nickname and can leave the school set to Public, which requires no school code. Everything in the app is free; more breathing and meditation rounds unlock as you level up.
The app is available in English and runs on iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later, and on Android phones and tablets. On an iPad the iPhone version can be installed and runs in a phone-sized window.
You still enter your birth date during registration, and it is stored with your account. We calculate your age and compare it with the inclusive age range shared by Apple or Google, where available, to check the app's minimum age and age-appropriate access. The range does not reveal your exact birth date and does not prove who is holding the device. The app does not ask for identity documents, payment details or selfies.
Check the date you entered and the Apple or Google account used on your device, then retry the age check. If a birthday has moved you into another range, the platform may still hold the previous range. On iPhone, review Settings → [your name] → Personal Information → Age Range for Apps. On Android, open Google Play and follow any age-verification or approval instructions. We cannot edit your Apple or Google account.
If the birth date saved in your Simply Serene account is wrong, e-mail omacomp1@gmail.com from your registered address and ask for a correction. Do not send your password.
A declared birth date can be used only when the app's regional policy permits it. Older iOS devices use the App Store country for that decision; the current fallback for an older iOS version is limited to the Polish storefront. An unknown region, a service error or a required age verification does not automatically allow access. Check your connection and use Check again. Some checks also need an updated operating system or Google Play services. On Android, install or update the app through Google Play for Play age signals.
Follow the approval process shown by Apple or Google with your parent or guardian. A pending or declined required approval prevents access. After the account or approval settings change, return to the app and retry. Age checks also run when an existing session is reopened or resumed. You can still delete your Simply Serene account from the blocking screen.
No. Signing in restores account information, while the journal, goals and training progress remain local to the device. They are not synchronised through your Simply Serene account.
You can delete your account in the app or request deletion here without installing, signing in to or opening the app.
Open Settings → Account → Delete account, enter your password and confirm. If an age check blocks access, choose Delete account on that screen. Deletion removes the server account, including your name, e-mail, phone number, birth date, password hash and age-check record, and clears the local profile, journal, goals and progress on the device where you delete it.
If you no longer have access to your registered e-mail, contact the same address for help verifying ownership. We usually answer within two business days and will confirm when deletion is complete. Removing the server account does not remotely erase local journal entries, imported music, media caches or backups on your devices. You can remove those locally as described below.
Registration, sign-in, account deletion and school requests need an internet connection. Age checks may also need access to Apple or Google; if a required check cannot finish, access remains blocked until you can complete it. After access is allowed, journaling, local goals, breathing rounds and timers can run without a connection. Built-in music, films and narrator recordings need a connection unless the required file is already available locally.
The narrator is off until you turn it on: open Settings → Sound & haptics and switch on Read text aloud. On the same page you can switch between a female and a male narrator and set the narrator volume and the music volume separately. Also check that your phone is not in silent mode and that the volume is up while a session is running.
Yes. Go to Settings → Sound & haptics → My music, tap Add files and pick audio files from your device. The app copies only the files you pick and plays them instead of the built-in training music. It never browses your library on its own.
Some partner schools hand out one-time codes to their students. Entering a code during setup, or later in Settings → School, only changes the school name shown on your profile — every exercise in the app is available without it. If your school would like to join, use the "Add your school" form on the setup screen or in Settings → School, or simply write to us.
Journal entries, time-capsule letters, goals and training progress are kept on your device and are not uploaded to our account server. We cannot restore them from your account. Device backups may include local app files depending on your backup settings. See the privacy policy for details.
Settings → Sign out removes local account details, the profile, journal entries, goals, progress and preferences, but keeps your server account. To remove that account too, use Delete your Simply Serene account. Imported music can be removed separately in Settings → Sound & haptics → My music. Uninstalling removes remaining app files; backups are managed through your backup provider. Because a school code works only once, you will need a new one from your school if you sign out and want to join it again.
No. It is a wellness and training app: breathing, meditation, journaling and mental-training exercises. It does not diagnose or treat anything and is not a replacement for professional care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 in the US, or contact your local emergency number right away.
Simply Serene is free. There are no ads, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
The full privacy policy is at simplysereneapp.com/privacy. Account information and the age-check result at registration or sign-in are sent to our server over HTTPS. Journal entries, goals and training progress stay local. There are no ads, analytics or tracking SDKs.
